Dakha Brakha - Na dobranich (2006)

Świat powstał z Chaosu. Muzyka powstaje z duszy ludu. Etno + chaos - to rdzenie słów, z jakich wynika świat muzyki, różnorodny w swoich rytmach, ale poznawalny w dźwiękach rodzimej muzyki, świat zaskakujący, oczekiwany i nowy.

DachaBracha - to nazwa oryginalna, dziwaczna i prawdziwa. Słowa dawać i brać pochodzą z języka staroukraińskiego.

Instrumenty DachaBrachy to indyjskie tabla, gong buddyjski, wiolonczela, marakasy, rosyjskie treszczotki. Taka awangardowa i sakralna zarazem ukraińska pieśń ma głos wspólny wewnętrznemu kosmosowi człowieka, jego smutkowi duszy i duchowemu spokojowi, dziecięcej beztrosce i patosowi, religijnej ekstazie i tragedii rozumu. Ten kosmos niczego człowiekowi nie zabiera, on dodaje... do wypełnienia i nowego rozkwitu twórczości. (tekst pochodzi z witryny wschodni folk)

The world of unexpected, intimate and new music. World originates from Chaos. Music evolves from ethnic soul. Ethnos + chaos - the combination of two fundamental substances, create the world of music in a variety of native melodies and rhythms.

DakhaBrakha - is a name of a new band which plays the contemporary-folk music - ethno-chaos. The name is original, outstanding and authentic at the same time.Dakha/Brakha means “give/take” in old Ukrainian language.

Dah (Dakh) - is a place, there the group was created - The Centre of Contemporary Arts “DAKH”. Pronauncing DakhaBrakha you can hear the sounds like “RA” - God of Sun of ancient Egyptians and of ancient Ukrainians, “brama” - gates, “Brahma” - Supreme God of creation in Hinduism, “ptah” - a bird in a meaning of a signing soul…

The meaning of "giving" is obvious - to give music, joy, celebration, the whole spectrum of emotions, feelings and reflections that fresh music and singing bring with itself. But where “to take” from? The main stuff of the group are the the folk-group “Kralitsa” singers (artistic director - Ivan Sinelnikov), who are learning the Ukrainian folk music for many years and are in search of the traditional songs all over the Ukraine. The energy for singing is taken by the girls Kievites not only from the native culture but from other cultures as well.

Modern ethnic music needs a sort of reconstruction. And in a way, it means to search for roots, to move back. But if one belongs to urban culture and has no initial experience of traditional life, how can he find these “roots”? This “authentic music” will come out artificial, because it is an imitation only. The Ukrainians still have no developed “urban folk” music, so called world music. It depends on the specific social and cultural development. So, now the vital decision is to make a step forward with a help of an inner inspiration and fantasy: you hear an impusle, and then create a new world of sounds based, perhaps, on more deep culture roots, but not on the superficial traditional forms of it.

Thus, the energy for singing can be taken not only from a native “source”, but from everywhere. And it is a right way according to Ukrainian culture because this culture always composed itself on other cultural crossroads. In Ukrainian authentic “symphony” one can hear the European and Oriental motives, the Christian and Moslem ones. (Vladyslav Troitskyi)

Now you will hear the album “Good night” of the group “DakhaBrakha” for the first time in your life, and may be, I envy you a bit. I envy you, because it is splendid when you first discover something new, real and sincere. But I envy you only a bit – because with each new listening I find new and new stratums, new surprise, new magic and new space in this music. Because it may seem to you only for the first several minutes that you are listening to something familiar, to something which is completely Ukrainian, which is so authentic and archaic, but already (more or less) famous… Now then, know – you will hear nothing of the kind at this disc. To be exact – only similar, but not like that. This album, this performance looks like a step back followed by a step aside and two steps forward. This is an extensional waltz, the squares of which are twirled in a spiral of people’s DNA. At that, in the DNA not of a body, but of consciousness and history (not paper ones, of course). It seems as if subconscious codes are available here, the codes of not only people, but of all alive creatures that exist on the earth – and of the Earth itself. Because everything that is alive by all means responds to this music– this way or that. Somebody is dancing, something is growing, something is flowing… That’s why I am glad that now you will hear - this - as well. And I hope you will become glad as well. So, let joy dance, grow, flow... (Anton Jozhik Lejba)

  1. Ta płyta to prawdziwa perełka.

Dopiero kilka dni temu wydana. Bitrate jest niski. Sorry. Ale walory oddaje całkiem.
