Zs to kwartet z Nowego Jorku założony w 2000 roku. Ich muzyka klasyfikowana była już bardzo różnie, m. in. jako awangardowy jazz, noise, eksperymentalny rock czy też avant-prog. Sami przekornie stwierdzają zaś, że grają po prostu rock’n’rolla. Najlepiej jednak spróbować na własnej skórze i przesłuchać którejś z ich siedmiu płyt, które zawierają materiał dla słuchaczy dość wymagający, momentami brzmiący wręcz bardzo brutalnie. Tak też jest jest w przypadku ich najbardziej znanego albumu "New Slaves", który zdaniem lidera grupy Sama Hillmera jest swoistym manifestem tego zespołu.
Zs was founded in 2000 and has existed as a trio, sextet, and quartet,
now solidifying into the quartet formation of Sam Hillmer (tenor
saxophone), Ben Greenberg (electric guitar), Amnon Freidlin (electric
guitar), and Ian Antonio (drum set). While Zs' music has been variously
categorized as no-wave, brutal-prog, and post-minimalist, it is
primarily concerned with making music that challenges the physical and
mental limitations of both performer and listener. Manipulating
extended technique, unique instrumental synthesis, and near telepathic
communication, Zs aims to create works that envelop the listener and
unfold sonically over time, evoking unspoken past, present, and future
