Absolwentka malarstwa, muzyki (flet oraz kompozycja) i elektroniki w Hamburgu, Grazu, Zurichu i Mediolanie. Początkowo pracowała jako flecistka wykonując muzykę współczesną, jednak po pewnym czasie zaczęła tworzyć własne kompozycje, które często łączyła z wideo. Od końca lat 70 skupiła się na instalacjach i rzeźbach dźwiękowych oraz na pracy ze światłem. Tworzy głównie kompozycje elektro-akustyczne, pisała także utwory dla zespołów i tworzyła prace audio dla radia. Artystka otrzymała wiele grantów oraz nagród, w tym grant kompozytorski miasta Berlina (1995), Niemiecką Nagrodę Sztuki Dźwięku (2008), wyróżnienie na Ars Electronica (2008), Nagrodę SR Media Art Award (2009), City Sound Art Bonn / Beethovenstiftung (2013). Od 1974 roku tworzyła wystawy solowe w Europie, USA, Australii, Japonii oraz Ameryce Południowej. Brała również udział w licznych międzynarowodych festiwalach i wystawach grupowych, takich jak: Pro Musica Nova, Bremen (1976 i 1980), Biennale w Wenecji (1980 i 1982), Ars Electronica, Linz (1987), Musik und Raum na festiwalu w Lucernie (2004), Europejska Stolica Kultury (2010). Jej muzykę publikowały takie wytwórnie jak Cramps Records, Edition RZ, ampersand, semishigure, Die Schachtel, Olof Bright, AA Records, Important Records, Gruenrekorder i inne. Christina Kubisch jest profesorem wizytującym na uniwersytetach w Maastricht, Paryżu, Oxfordzie i Berlinie. W latach 1994 – 2013 była profesorem Sztuk Audiowizualnych na Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Saarbrücken. Od roku 1997 jest członkiem Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Berlinie. Christina Kubisch was born in Bremen in 1948. She studied painting, music (flute and composition) and electronics in Hamburg, Graz, Zürich and Milano, where she graduated. Performances, concerts and works with video in the seventies, subsequently sound installations, sound sculptures and work with ultraviolet light. Her compositions are mostly electroacoustic, but she has written for ensembles as well. Since 2003 she works again as a perfomer and collaborates with various musicians and dancers. Numerous grants and awards, such as the Award of the German Industrial Association (BDI) 1998, composition grant of the city of Berlin 2000, Carl Djerassi Honorary Fellowship, USA 2000, artist-in-residence IASPIS, Stockholm 2002, Honorary prize of the German Sound Art Prize 2008, City sound artist Bonn, 2013. Since 1974 solo exhibitions in Europe, USA, Australia, Japan and South America.
