Jedna z najpopularniejszych piosenkarek lat 60., znana m.in. z piosenek "Jedziemy autostopem" i "Chłopiec z gitarą" - zmarła we wtorek w jednym z niemieckich szpitali.
Piosenkarka chorowała na zapalenie płuc, zmarła po trzytygodniowym pobycie w szpitalu w Niemczech, gdzie mieszkała od 1976 roku. Karin Stanek urodziła się 18 sierpnia 1943 (lub 1946) roku w Bytomiu w rodzinie górniczej. Na scenie zadebiutowała w 1962 roku piosenką "Jimmy Joe". W tym samym roku, po zwycięstwie odniesionym w konkursie "Czerwono-Czarni szukają młodych talentów" w Zabrzu i Krakowie, została wokalistką grupy. Występowała z nią do roku 1969
W latach 60. wraz z grupą odnosiła sukcesy na festiwalach w Sopocie i w Opolu, gdzie została wyróżniona m.in. za wykonanie piosenek "Jedziemy autostopem" i "Chłopiec z gitarą". Po odejściu z zespołu Czerwono-Czarnych występowała solo, a także z grupami: The Samuels, Aryston, Inni oraz Schemat. Wylansowała m.in. takie przeboje jak: "Malowana lala", "Tato, kup mi dżinsy", "Trzysta tysięcy gitar". Marian Lichtman - członek zespołu "Trubadurzy" - powiedział o niej, że była "pierwszą polską rokendrolówą", "polską Suzi Quatro lat 60.".
